At Choral Evolution, we believe in the power of music to elevate the human spirit and foster meaningful connections. Our mission is to create soul-stirring performances that resonate with our audiences, leaving an indelible mark on hearts and minds alike. Our passion for music drives us to perfect our craft and our desire to connect with others fuels our performances. We yearn to create moments of pure magic, where the music transcends the mundane and transports our listeners to a place of wonder and awe. Our goal is to leave a lasting impression, one that will be remembered long after the final note has faded away.
Our repertoire spans the ages, from timeless choral masterpieces to contemporary works that push the boundaries of vocal artistry. Under the expert guidance of our artistic director André Clouthier, our talented accompanist Gabriel Lagos and the collective dedication of our members, Choral Evolution continuously evolves exploring new musical genres, styles, and interpretations.
More than just a choir, we are a community of dedicated individuals, each with our own distinct personalities, backgrounds and experiences, united by our commitment to music. Through regular rehearsals, sectional rehearsals, workshops, social events, and the occasional jam session, we cultivate an inclusive and nurturing learning environment, encouraging personal growth and musical excellence. Regardless of experience level, singers can find a place to shine and contribute to the magic of Choral Evolution.
André Clouthier has worked as a professional singer, music director and voice teacher for most of his life. Growing up he sang in choirs and folk groups, studied trumpet and guitar. André played trumpet with the CAF Band and studied voice at the Conservatoire de Québec. He spent two very productive summers studying and performing in the Music Theatre program at the Banff School of Fine Arts. Soon after, André joined the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble and began a successful performing career singing tenor roles in Carmen, Fidelio, Mozart’s Magic Flute, and Madame Butterfly with Yokohama City Opera in Japan. His many concert credits include performances of Handel’s Messiah, Judas Maccabeus, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and the Verdi Requiem at Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
Gabe is an incredible musician who says, “When it comes to music, I love and play it all!” He is an accompanist, teacher, composer and skilled arranger who enjoys folk, rock, pop, rap, classical and jazz.
A pianist since childhood, Gabe studied piano at UVic where he also accompanied the UVic Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Most notably, though, he is a kind and warm-hearted person who is truly creative and fun to work with.
Choral Evolution is pleased that Gabe will be sharing his many talents with us!
